Forest School at King’s House Sports Ground
We are really excited to have recently developed ‘The Nest’, a new forest school and woodland area at the Sports Ground.
Two KHS teachers have recently completed their Forest School Leader qualifications, and are currently leading weekly sessions for Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils at King’s House. Whilst initially The Nest will be used by pupils at King’s House School for weekly Forest School sessions, but we hope to hire out the space to local schools in the future.
Forest School is a wonderful initiative that encourages child-led independent outdoor exploration, developing children’s confidence and self-esteem. We are very lucky to have access to such a large outdoor space in London, and this development presents another opportunity for children to experience the positive effects of the outdoors.
Redevelopment
The area behind the all-weather pitch has been unused since it was built in 2021, and in 2023 the space has been landscaped and over 400 trees planted that were supplied thanks to the Woodland Trust. The area has been carefully planned to include different zones for the children to explore, including log seating, a mud kitchen, rope swing and an area which will develop into a more mature woodland.
We are looking forward to many children using the space over the years to come, experiencing the benefits of the natural world.
If your school or company would be interested in using the space in the future, please let us know by contacting .
